The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center, Wichita, KS has one (1) full time opening for a Social Worker at the Ft Dodge, Kansas, Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Medical Social Work.

Salary range:

GS 9 - $47,923 - $62,297/annum

GS 11 - $57,982 - $75,376/annum

Work Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

The incumbent is a masters level social worker in Social Work Service who is responsible for providing social work services primarily in home visits with veterans/families, as well as our Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Ft Dodge, Kansas. The incumbent will perform comprehensive psychosocial assessments, counseling with individuals/families/groups, case management, education to veterans/families, coordinate and arrange community based services, facilitate VA non-institutional care services, participate in multidisciplinary teams, provide advocacy for veterans, provide consultation and education to staff regarding psychosocial aspects, represent VA mission in all interactions, and perform other duties as assigned. This position is primarily assigned to Ft Dodge site HBPC and CBOC and may be assigned to support other areas under Social Work Service as needed.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS for all grade levels:
U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
English Language Proficiency
Masters degree in Social Work, fully accredited by the Counsel on Social Work Education (CSWE)
Licensure or Certification by a state to independently practice at the Masters degree level.
GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
GS-9: Must meet all basic requirements.
GS-11: In addition to meeting all basic requirements, applicants must possess a minimum of 1 year of professional social work experience, equivalent to the next lower grade level, under qualified social work supervision. This experience must have been in a clinical setting and must have demonstrated the potential to perform advanced assignments independently. _NON-QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE_: Clinical social work experience obtained prior to completion of the requirements for a Master's Degree in Social Work does not satisfy this requirement. NOTE: _ A clinical setting is a medical center, clinic (medical or psychiatric), a residential treatment center, or any other type of facility where social work participates in collaborative treatment and is identified with the medical profession._

In addition to meeting basic requirements, a doctoral degree in social work from a school of social work.
